ATWOOD (February 27) — West Carroll High School hosted the conclusion of the District 13A Girls Basketball Tournament Wednesday. The host Lady War Eagles went down to the wire in the consolation game before Halls took the win, 45-42. In another thriller, Middleton claimed the championship over Humboldt, 46-43. more
Area high school basketball teams saw district tournaments disrupted by winter weather last week. Some districts have since completed their tournaments, but others are still in process. Region tournament schedules had not been released as of The Banner’s press deadline. more
CLARKSBURG (February 17) — The Clarksburg High School Lady Rockets hosted West Carroll Monday in the first round of the District 13A Girls Basketball Tournament. Clarksburg had the lead early, but the Lady War Eagles took control and pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 64-44 victory and a spot in the semifinals. more
The high school basketball regular season has ended, and district tournaments begin this week for area teams. The potential for winter weather on Tuesday, February 18 has already prompted some changes to game times, and further changes could be necessary later in the week depending on accumulation and road conditions. more
ATWOOD (February 13) — Senior Chloe Williams was crowned West Carroll High School Homecoming Queen Thursday during pregame festivities. more
ATWOOD (February 14) — West Carroll High School hosted McKenzie Friday for a pair of basketball contests, wrapping up the regular season for both schools. The visitors pulled away early in both games. The Lady Rebels won 51-36 in the opener, and the Rebels took the nightcap, 57-19. more
ATWOOD (February 10) — West Carroll High School celebrated Senior Night Monday prior to a pair of basketball contests against Clarksburg. Two senior cheerleaders and two War Eagle players were honored on the court, joined by family members. more
ATWOOD (February 13) — West Carroll High School celebrated Homecoming Thursday and hosted Bradford for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady War Eagles kept the game in reach but fell to the Lady Red Devils, 52-41. The Red Devils pulled away early for a 53-28 win. more
HOLLOW ROCK-BRUCETON (January 23) — Central High School hosted West Carroll Thursday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Tigers pulled ahead early en route to a 43-26 win, while the Tigers shook off an early deficit to claim a 62-42 victory. more
ATWOOD (January 9) — West Carroll High School hosted Middleton Thursday for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady War Eagles fell to the Lady Tigers 55-31, and the Tigers topped the War Eagles 66-24. more
HUNTINGDON (December 27-30) — Huntingdon High School hosted its annual Point Guard Club Coca-Cola Classic with six girls teams participating in three days of round-robin action. more

McKENZIE (January 3) — McKenzie High School kicked off 2025 with a pair of home basketball wins against West Carroll. The Lady Rebels had a strong first half en route to a 59-25 win, and the Rebels set the tone early in a 64-33 victory. more
Huntingdon High School and Huntingdon Middle School are each hosting basketball tournaments this weekend, beginning Friday, December 27. more
GLEASON (December 13) — Gleason High School hosted West Carroll Friday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Bulldogs pulled away in the late minutes of a low-scoring game for a 37-26 win. The Bulldogs rode a big early lead to a 71-19 victory. more
ATWOOD (December 3) — West Carroll High School hosted Gleason Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests, and the visitors earned a road sweep. The Lady Bulldogs rode a big first quarter to a 55-32 win, and the Bulldogs pulled away in the second quarter for a 60-39 victory. more
ATWOOD (December 5) — West Carroll Junior High recognized its basketball eighth graders Thursday night and hosted Dresden for a pair of games. The visiting Lady Lions built on an early lead for a 41-27 win. The Lions likewise pulled away in the early minutes for a 59-13 victory. more
ATWOOD (November 19) — West Carroll High School hosted Riverside Tuesday for a pair of Hall of Champion (preseason) basketball contests. The Lady Panthers jumped out to a big lead early en route to a 62-31 win, and the Panthers pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 52-31 victory. more
