McKENZIE (May 9) — On Thursday two things happened regarding Broadway Street: the one-way street sign was removed temporarily allowing two-way travel on the street; and during the meeting of the McKenzie City Council, Ordinance 569 to convert Broadway to a one-way street passed its first of two readings. more
CARROLL COUNTY — The weekend was filled with high school graduations in Carroll County from the five county high schools. The events began Friday, May 10 with graduations at Clarksburg and West Carroll, Saturday at Huntingdon, and Sunday at McKenzie and Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central. more
Under normal circumstances, Thursday’s McKenzie City Council meeting should have revolved around the approval of the fiscal year budget. While there was an unpublicized workshop on the budget, the Mayor’s impromptu directional change of Broadway took center stage. The ordeal of Broadway and antics of Thursday’s meeting have left a bad taste in my mouth for McKenzie Municipal Government.  more

10 Years Ago — The Chamber Golf Tournament had 100 golfers and 30 volunteers for the event. The first place team for the first flight was Hamilton Ryker, made up of players Parker Jones, Troy Jones, Joe Saganski, and Stan Welch. more
ATWOOD (May 2) — West Carroll Special School District Board of Education approved replacing seven heating and cooling units and purchasing a new marquee sign in front of the central office building adjacent to the new U.S. 79 bypass and the existing SR 77 intersection. more
NASHVILLE (April 30) — On Tuesday, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter announced the state will award $162.7 million in broadband and digital opportunity grants. more

The McKenzie City Council meets Thursday at 6 p.m. at City Hall for the scheduled May meeting. Prior to the meeting, there is a scheduled workshop at 5 p.m. about the proposed 2024-25 budget. more
HUNTINGDON (May 2) — Huntingdon Public Works Director Randy Crossett announced his resignation during the May 2 meeting of the Public Works Committee. Mayor Nina Smothers said Crossett did not provide a definite date of resignation and talks between she and Crossett continue as she attempts to persuade him not to quit. more
HUNTINGDON (May 4) — The Carroll County Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors inducted its twenty-second class of members during a celebration on Saturday, May 4 at the Carroll County Civic Center. Nine members were inducted and 10 high school seniors were recognized for their athletic and academic accomplishments. more
