Webb School National Register Celebration
The Webb Alumni Association is planning a celebration and ribbon cutting on July 20 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the school, located at 938 Walnut Street West, in McKenzie to commemorate the addition of Webb Public School to the National Register of Historic Places. You are cordially invited to attend.

Back to School Events
• Back to School Bash at Long Heights Baptist Church - McKenzie on August 4 from 5-7 p.m. featuring water slides and food trucks! Long Heights Baptist Church is located at 260 Old Paris Rd, McKenzie, TN 38201.
• Urban Trading Company in McKenzie is having a Back to School Bash on July 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with several vendors. Urban Trading Company is located at 55 Broadway St, McKenzie, TN 38201.
• Make plans to attend the Back to School Jumpstart happening on July 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Mulberry Park. There will be snow cones, food, games, school supplies and LOTS of fun! Mulberry Park is located at Mulberry St, McKenzie, TN 38201.
• Back to School Bash at Veterans Park in Huntingdon — Sunday, August 4 from 5-7 p.m., Huntingdon students (K-12) and their families are welcome to join a fun-filled evening with free food and school supplies, lots of games and ice cream. Veterans Park is Located at 605 Northwood Dr, Huntingdon, TN 38344.
• Hometown Health Clinic hosts a Back to School Blitz - Homer’s Fun Day on the Farm Wednesday, July 24 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 205A Hospital Drive (pediatrics entrance) featuring giveaways, a petting zoo (11 a.m.-1 p.m.), Homer and Friends, Sno Cones and a “Dress Like a Farmer or Farm Animal” contest.
• Webb Back to School Closet - Saturday, July 27 at Webb School, 938 Walnut Ave. W, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - Free clothes and shoes (K-8), free haircuts and styles (by Tammy Lane, Shaun Hughes, Querida Carnes and A-La-Sonna Cobb), hot dogs, chips and drinks. McKenzie Valve & Machining School Supply Drive
McKenzie Valve & Machining is seeking contributions for a backpack and school supply drive for local area elementary schools. Donations can be dropped off at McKenzie Chamber of Commerce at 9 Broadway or at McKenzie Valve & Machining at 145 Airport Ln. from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday until July 19. Please make checks payable to McKenzie Valve and Machining. Items sought are: #2 pencils (Ticonderoga, no plastic-coated), cap erasers, glue sticks, Elmer’s bottle glue, pencil pouches/boxes, earbuds (wired), notebook paper (wide-ruled), composition notebooks, dry erase markers, 24-pack Crayola crayons, scissors (safety tip and regular), tissues, Clorox wipes, plastic folders with brads, highlighters and backpacks.

Huntingdon Quarterback Club ‘Meet the Mustangs’ Fundraiser
The Huntingdon Quarterback Club hosts a “Meet the Mustangs” fundraiser Thursday, August 1 at Paul Ward Stadium. Fish fry dinners (3-piece, hushpuppies, fries, slaw and a drink) can be picked up from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are limited and may be purchased at Small Town Blessings, Huntingdon Insurance, E3 Fitness or Maddox Insurance for $15.
“Meet the Mustangs” begins at 7 p.m. The high school and middle school football teams and cheerleaders as well as the Marching Mustangs will be introduced. Entry is $5.

Pick-Up
McKenzie High School schedules may be picked up at the school on Wednesday, July 17 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

McKenzie Elementary School Meet the Teacher
McKenzie Elementary School hosts a Meet the Teacher event on Thursday, August 1 from 12:30-5:30 p.m.

McKenzie Middle School Baseball Tryouts
Tryouts for the MMS baseball team are Friday, July 19 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the city park.

McKenzie High School Baseball Tryouts
Tryouts for the MHS baseball team are Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the city park. In case of inclement weather, tryouts will be held at the MHS indoor practice facility.

McKenzie High School Kids Football Camp
MHS football and Coach Keith Hodge host a kids’ football camp Tuesday, July 23 at the indoor practice facility. Entry is $20; pay and register at the door. This event is open to all area youth ages 5-12.

AARP SMART DRIVER COURSE
An AARP refresher driver’s course is 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Carroll County Office on Aging, August 22 and 23 2024. Taking the course will help you brush up on driving skills, participants 50 and over may receive a reduction on automobile insurance, but must attend both days. Bethel Baptist Church Hosts Vacation Bible School
Bethel Baptist Church in McKenzie is hosting Vacation Bible School (VBS) “Breaker Rock Beach” scheduled for July 15 - July 19, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. VBS begins with snacks and drinks at 5:30 p.m., classes start at 6 p.m. and an adult class begins at 6:30 p.m.. Bethel Baptist Church is located at 21755 Hwy 22. You are invited to attend.

Commodity Distribution
The Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council will distribute USDA Commodity giveaways for residents of Carroll County residents on July 17 and 18, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until food commodities are depleted. The address is 13355 Paris Street, Huntingdon.
This is a first-come, first-served basis. Residents must be registered to receive assistance. Attendees can register and prove eligibility while on site.

Senior Citizen Day at the Fair

Miss CCHS Pageant
The Miss Carroll County Humane Society Pageant will be held on Sunday, July 21 at the Carroll County Civic Center in Huntingdon. Doors open at 12 with the first category beginning at 1p.m.
$5 entry per person to watch. Entry paperwork is available at CCHS or can be completed the day of pageant. Infant-2 years for boys and girls, 3-5 for Mini Mr. and Mini Miss, 6-9 Little Miss, 10-13 Junior Miss, 14-16 Teen Miss, 17-21 Miss CCHS and 22+ Adult Miss CCHS. $35 entry fee beauty only and includes one admission plus contestant. Dog Vouchers
We are currently selling spay/neuter vouchers for dogs. The cost is $50 and surgeries will be done at the Huntingdon Animal Clinic. Must be 6 months or older at time of the appointment. No residency or income requirements. Vouchers must be purchased in person at the shelter during business hours Tuesday-Saturday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. We are running low on spay vouchers so hurry if you want one. We have several more neuter vouchers. Cash or card only.
Cat Vouchers
We always have spay/neuter vouchers for cats at a cost of $50 and to be used at Paris Vet Clinic. If you need to pay with cash, come by the shelter to purchase. Otherwise, we have a NEW NUMBER to purchase using a credit/debit card. Please leave a message and the volunteer will return your call very soon, 731-514-0878.

McKenzie Riders Chapter X Annual Celebration
The McKenzie Riders Chapter X hosts a first-year annual celebration at Tom’s Steakhouse in Paris Saturday, August 17 at 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome; door prizes will be given.

McKenzie Memorial Library’s Hours
The McKenzie Memorial Library, Broadway Street, is open, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays throughout the summer for the Summer Reading Program. Additionally, the library has programs on most Saturdays beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Carroll Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in February and July.

McKenzie Industrial Board Meets
McKenzie Industrial Board of Directors meets Thursday, July 18, 6 p.m. in the RailYard Workspace on Broadway Street.

Carroll Democratic Party Meets
The Carroll County Democratic Party meets the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at 12740 Lexington Street, Huntingdon.

McKenzie TOPS to Meet

American Legion Auxiliary Family Dance Nights
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 47 is hosting family dance nights on Thursdays in July from 7-9:30 p.m. at Carroll County Civic Center in Huntingdon, located at 201 Fairgrounds Road. July 18 will be the Trailblazers Band and on July 25 Crooked Creek will perform.

Carroll County Republican Party meets monthly each fourth Tuesday, 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building in Huntingdon.
