Newspaper Office Closed on July 4-5
The McKenzie Banner office will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day. The office will reopen on Monday, July 8 at 8 a.m. Please submit news/events for the July 9 edition by Wednesday, July 3 if possible. If you need to reach us, email banner@mckenziebanner.com. Our staff will also be covering area events. Thank you for allowing us this time with our families.

Movie Night with Nolan at the Court Theatre
The Court Theatre in Huntingdon is hosting a special movie night on Tuesday, July 9 at 7 p.m. The movie will be Good Burger and proceeds will benefit the Nolan and Courtney Turner Memorial Scholarship. Donations will be accepted at the door instead of charging admission. Other items will be for sale as well. Nolan’s father, Jesse Turner, said they are working on special cups and popcorn bags to make the night very Nolan-centric.

Historic Zoning Committee Meeting — Wednesday, July 10 at 4 p.m. No agenda provided.
Parks & Recreation Meeting — Wednesday, July 10 at 5:30 p.m. No agenda provided. Meeting is supposed to be a follow-up to the June meeting regarding the location of soccer fields either near McKenzie City Park or at Mulberry Park.
Workshop/Public Hearing (Broadway Street) — Thursday, July 11 at 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend this meeting regarding the directional change of Broadway Street from two-way to one-way. Downtown business owners are strongly encouraged to attend. The public is allowed to address the council during a public hearing.
City Council Meeting — Thursday, July 11 at 6 p.m. No agenda provided. This is the regular monthly meeting of McKenzie City Council. Business in this meeting includes the second reading of the Broadway one-way street ordinance, relevant discussion from the workshop and/or the directional reversal of Banner Row. If the public wishes to address the council, they must request to be added to the agenda at least 24-hours prior to the meeting time by Wednesday at 5 p.m.

American Legion Auxiliary Family Dance Nights
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 47 is hosting family dance nights on Thursdays in July from 7-9:30 p.m. at Carroll County Civic Center in Huntingdon, located at 201 Fairgrounds Road. On July 11 Wallace and Company will perform, July 18 will be the Trailblazers Band, and on July 25 Crooked Creek will perform. There will be no dance on July 4.

Webb School National Register Celebration
The Webb Alumni Association is planning a celebration and ribbon cutting on July 20 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the school, located at 938 Walnut Street West, in McKenzie to commemorate the addition of Webb Public School to the National Register of Historic Places. You are cordially invited to attend.

T.A.R.P. ADA Celebration
T.A.R.P. Center for Independent Living is hosting an ADA Celebration on July 31 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at 1108 Tyson Avenue in Paris. Cake sponsorships and cake donations needed for cake walk. Call 731-644-0026, visit www.tarp1.org or email info@tarp1.org.

McKenzie Memorial Library’s Hours
The McKenzie Memorial Library, Broadway Street, is open, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays throughout the summer for the Summer Reading Program. Additionally, the library has programs on most Saturdays beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Carroll Humane Society Events
Dog Vouchers
We are currently selling spay/neuter vouchers for dogs. The cost is $50 and surgeries will be done at the Huntingdon Animal Clinic. Must be 6 months or older at time of the appointment. No residency or income requirements. Vouchers must be purchased in person at the shelter during business hours Tuesday-Saturday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. We are running low on spay vouchers so hurry if you want one. We have several more neuter vouchers. Cash or card only.
Cat Vouchers
We always have spay/neuter vouchers for cats at a cost of $50 and to be used at Paris Vet Clinic. If you need to pay with cash, come by the shelter to purchase. Otherwise, we have a NEW NUMBER to purchase using a credit/debit card. Please leave a message and the volunteer will return your call very soon, 731-514-0878.

McKenzie TOPS to Meet
The McKenzie TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter meets on Mondays at 3 p.m. at the McKenzie Church of Christ gym. Anyone interested in losing weight can join. For more information, contact Linda Lawrence at 731-352-7309. If no answer, leave a message.

Carroll Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in February and July.

Carroll Democratic Party Meets
The Carroll County Democratic Party meets the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at 12740 Lexington Street, Huntingdon.

Carroll Republican Party Meets
Carroll County Republican Party meets monthly each fourth Tuesday, 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Building in Huntingdon.

Adult Education Classes
Huntingdon Location — Adult Education Building, 14155 Paris Street. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes are offered for one-on-one instruction on Mondays, 1-4 p.m. and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to NOON. For more information, phone 731-364-5481.
