The updates — announced Tuesday, May 5, by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office — are effective immediately.

Here is the courtroom's updated dress code and prohibited items list:

  • No weapons of any type.
  • No cell phones or recording devices of any kind. No pagers or electronics.
  • No tobacco or smoking devices.
  • No bags, purses or containers of any nature.
  • No gang or drug-related articles.
  • No caps, hats or head-covering of any type without prior court permission.*
  • No shorts, halter tops, tank tops, pajamas or see-through clothing.
  • No clothing with obscene messages or symbols.
  • No shoes that make audible sounds while walking, such as flip flops.
  • No food or drink.

Additionally, children are expected to wait in the first-floor lobby with adult supervision.

*Individuals seeking accommodations may address the court officer at the door.
