Fillies Top Lady Rebels, 13-3

HUNTINGDON (March 30) — The Huntingdon High School Fillies hosted McKenzie Tuesday for a district softball contest. The Fillies jumped out to an early lead en route to a 13-3 victory.

Huntingdon plated a pair of runs in each of the first three frames. The Lady Rebels cut the deficit in half with three in the top of the fourth, but the Fillies tacked on another in the home half. Huntingdon pulled away with five in the fifth and added one more in the sixth to end the game an inning early.

Shelby Childress led the Fillies’ offense, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Hannah King was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Rylee Holladay went 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Kayla Pulling was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Kenadie Gibson went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Kelby Crossno was 2-for-3 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Josie Sanders went 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Ava Ryan Canovan was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Lia Fuller went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Lady Rebel Kassidy Brown went 2-for-3 with a home run. Katie Chesser was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Belle O’Brien went 2-for-3. Jaden Barton and Anna Robinson each went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Payton Ognibene was 1-for-2 with a walk.

Rylee Holladay earned the complete-game win for Huntingdon, allowing three earned runs on 13 hits while striking out three and walking two in six innings.

Katie Chesser took the loss for McKenzie, allowing 12 earned runs on 14 hits while striking out seven and walking two in four and two-thirds innings. Payton Ognibene threw the final inning and a third, allowing one unearned run on two hits with no walks.
