Huntingdon Earns Second State Title

CHATTANOOGA (December 6) — The Huntingdon Mustangs are the TSSAA Class 2A Football State Champions after a 20-7 win over Marion County Saturday at Finley Stadium.
The Mustangs scored once in each of the first three quarters and held the Warriors scoreless until the fourth.
The victory caps a 14-1 season for Huntingdon, their lone loss coming to Milan in the regular season, a loss they avenged in the semifinals to reach the title game.
It’s the fifth finals appearance and the second championship victory for a program that has missed the playoffs just once since 1993.
Quarterback Kenton Smith was named MVP as he ran for 111 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. He was one of three passing for 41 yards and a TD.
