MILAN — Ms. Jo Ann Pickard, 91, of Milan died peacefully Wednesday evening in Oxford, Miss., surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 7, 1932, in Milan, Tenn., to Raleigh Pillow and Georgia Usleton Pillow. She had two brothers, too, Harry Herron Pillow and Will Jerry Pillow. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Milan, where she volunteered enthusiastically.
She served on the YMCA board and headed up the first Milan YMCA, was an alderwoman, Tennessee highway safety, and received the prestigious honor of being named Woman of the Year 2001 by the Milan Chamber of Commerce. She was a devoted grandmother and great- grandmother and will be remembered as a loving Gee Jo to so many.
Funeral services are 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 24 at First Baptist Church Milan. Viewing from 10-11 a.m. Visitation and viewing will be held Tuesday, May 23 at Bodkin Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m.
Survivors include two daughters, Marianne Pickard Howe (Fran) of McKenzie and Kay Pickard Garmany (David) of Gibson. Four grandchildren, John Russell (Jennifer) of Oxford, Miss., Morgan Pickard Rollins (Glen) of Atlanta, Gerogia, Blake Pickard of Nashville, Tenn., and Lauren Garmany of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, John Alden Russell and Sumner Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her son, David Herron Pickard and her daughter, Cynthia Jane Pickard Russell.
