McKenzie High School Sweeps Big Sandy on Senior Night

McKENZIE (January 19) — McKenzie High School celebrated Senior Night Tuesday with a pair of blowout district wins over visiting Big Sandy. First, the Lady Rebels dominated the Lady Red Devils 78-8. Then, the Rebels coasted to an 86-31 victory over the Red Devils.
Prior to the games, McKenzie’s senior basketball players, managers and cheerleaders were recognized on the court with family members.
Senior cheerleaders are: Ashlyn Drewry, daughter of Mandy and David Drewry, and Graycie Turner, daughter of Thomas and Wendy Turner.
Senior Lady Rebels are: Lilly Bennett, daughter of Brian and Holly Bennett; Anna Callahan, daughter of Kim and Randy Callahan; and Savannah Nesbitt, daughter of Anthony and Melinda Nesbitt.
Senior Rebels are: Jaden Currie, son of Jewell Dudley; Johnathan Moore, son of Terry and Andrea Moore; Elijah Seivers, son of Thom and Keri Woodson and Cody Seivers; and Eli Surber, son of Tommy and Meredith Surber.
Senior basketball manager is Allie Chappell, daughter of Brad and Christie Chappell.
Lady Rebels 78, Lady Red Devils 8
The Lady Rebels stormed out to a 19-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Lilly Bennett with seven points. Savannah Nesbitt scored four, and Katie Chesser hit a three-pointer. Kyeana Sneed and MiKaela Reynolds each had a pair, and Briley Auvenshine hit a free throw. Ashlyn Berry had Big Sandy’s two points.
McKenzie further pulled away 26-2 in the second quarter, led by Sneed and Kylie Reynolds with five points each, Reynolds with a three. Bennett, Savannah Davis and Dani Dyer each scored four, Davis with a three. Nesbitt and Chesser each added a pair. Bailey Berry had a pair for the Lady Red Devils. At the half, McKenzie led 45-4.
The Lady Rebels had a 16-4 advantage in the third, led by K. Reynolds with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers. Auvenshine and Davis each hit a three, and Anna Callahan had a pair. A. Berry and Annelise Wade each had a pair for Big Sandy. Entering the final frame, the Lady Rebels led 61-6.

McKenzie blanked the Lady Red Devils 17-0 in the fourth. Nesbitt and Hannah Dillingham each hit a three, and Chesser also scored three points. Sneed, Auvenshine, M. Reynolds and Callahan each added a pair.
Lady Rebel Kylie Reynolds led all scorers with 13 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Lilly Bennett scored eleven points.
Ashlyn Berry led Big Sandy with four points.
Rebels 86, Red Devils 31
McKenzie jumped out to a 25-13 lead after the first frame, led by Jaden Currie with seven points, including a three-pointer. Eli Surber and Johnathan Moore each scored six, Surber on a pair of threes. Zay Webber hit a three, Marquez Taylor had a pair, and Elijah Seivers hit a free throw. Red Devils Brandon Berry and Blake Sims each scored four points. Seth Green hit a three, and Shane Terry had a pair.
The Rebels had a 29-6 advantage in the second quarter, led by Moore with nine points, including a pair of threes. Bryson Steele scored eight. Surber, Taylor and Currie each had four points, Surber with a three-pointer. Jaylen Christopher led Big Sandy with four points, and Mikey Rushing had a pair. At the half, the Rebels led 54-19.
McKenzie had a 13-12 edge in the third, led by Taylor with four points. Zach Aird hit a three, and Currie, Moore and Zayden McCaslin each had a pair. Green led the Red Devils with six points, including a three. Sims hit a three-pointer, and Christopher also scored three points. Heading into the final frame, McKenzie led 67-31.
The Rebels blanked Big Sandy 19-0 in the fourth, led by Currie with seven points. Christopher Beck scored four points. Bryant Haynes, Stafford Roditis, Hayden Garrett and Drew Chappell each had a pair.
Rebel Jaden Currie led all scorers with 20 points, including a three-pointer. Johnathan Moore scored 17 with a pair of threes. Eli Surber and Marquez Taylor each had ten points, Surber with a trio of threes.
Seth Green led the Red Devils with nine points, including a pair of threes.
