Huntingdon Proclaims April 15 as Purple UP! Day
From the May 5, 2026 e-Edition
HUNTINGDON (April 28) — Huntingdon Mayor Chad Edwards proclaimed April 15 as “Purple UP! For Military Children Day” during last week’s Huntingdon Town Council meeting.
The proclamation recognizes military children as an integral part of the community and nation, as they serve alongside their parents in sacrifice and resilience.
“These children face unique challenges, including frequent relocations, transitions between schools, and long periods of separation from their loved ones due to deployments and training obligations,” the proclamation reads.
“Despite these challenges,” Edwards continued, “military children demonstrate strength, courage, adaptability and a deep sense of pride in their families’ service to our Country.”
The color purple represents all branches of the military. It is a combination of Army green; Marine Corps red; and Coast Guard, Navy and Air Force blue.
Purple UP! Day is observed nationwide during the month of the Military Child in April as a way to recognize and honor the sacrifice and contributions of military-connected youth.
