Rebels Host Kids Football Camp
From the Jul 29, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (July 21) — Coach Keith Hodge and the McKenzie High School Rebels hosted the second annual Kids Football Camp Monday evening at the indoor practice facility.
About 90 kids participated in the two-hour camp, a big jump from last year’s inaugural event.
The kids started with agility and warm-ups, then rotated in smaller groups at eight stations to focus on learning specific skills such as passing, receiving, tackling and kicking.
The event closed with a receiving competition and a “postgame huddle”.
Coach Hodge spoke to The Banner about the camp. “The main thing for us is we want the McKenzie community involved. We want the kids, elementary kids, the middle school kids, to be excited about football and the competition and the camaraderie that comes with being up here and getting together and learning different skills and different things that come along with football.
“But the main thing is getting all these kids together and seeing what they can do and compete a little bit and just have fun. This game is meant to be fun and exciting for the kids.
“The McKenzie community loves football. This is just the second year of it, and it’s already grown. I think that’s a really big deal for us. We want to continue to keep kids excited.”
