Gleason, Tennessee, a.k.a Tatertown, USA is a busy place as the Gleason Gazelles and the Gleason Community gear up for the 49th Annual Tatertown Special. The 2022 Grand Marshal is Steele Plant Company owners Ken and Valerie Sanders and Larry and Kay Hudson. They will be recognized Saturday, August 27 for their unselfish service to the Gleason Community.
Sunday, August 28, starts the week-long festivities with a Night of Worship. This worship event is hosted by area churches and will feature the Bethel Renaissance Choir. The performance is at the Gleason First Baptist Church, beginning at 6 p.m.
The 2022 Tatertown Block Party, titled “Superheroes”, is Monday night, in downtown Gleason. There will be a DJ blasting music from 6 p.m. until dark. Activities include a sidewalk chalk art contest, train rides, firetruck rides, a costume contest and more. Several food trucks will be in attendance so come hungry.
Tuesday night features a mini-golf scramble at the Rolling Hills Miniature Golf Course.
On Wednesday night there is youth bingo followed by adult bingo on Thursday Night.
The Community BBQ is set for Friday evening, September 2 at the Gazelle Grounds. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $7.00. The band Flashback is the entertainment for the evening.
The annual JC Carey 5K starts the Saturday morning events, with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. The Junior Parade and the Grand Parade start at 10 a.m., followed by activities on the Gazelle Grounds. Activities include Arts & Crafts, live entertainment by the Jordan Skoda Band, food and fellowship, and much more.
The week’s festivities conclude on Sunday, September 4 with a community-wide Worship Service hosted by the Gleason Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Gleason Gazelles wish to invite you to attend the 2022 Tatertown Special.
