McKENZIE (September 30) — In a special called meeting, the City of McKenzie Board of Mayor and Council met Thursday evening to vote on the approval of an at-large voting system. Unanimously on the first reading, the Council voted to abolish the ward system and adopt the at-large system. more
HUNTINGDON (September 25) — Brooke Hodges was honored as the Citizen of the Year and the Parnell Taylor family was honored as the Pioneer Family of the Year during the 28th annual Huntingdon Heritage Day. more
The streets of McKenzie were filled Friday and Saturday, September 24 and 25 with the Sweet Tea and Southern Pickin’s Festival, McKenzie Homecoming and a Bethel football game. more
The McKenzie Rotary Club donated $1,000 to the Beating Hearts Help Center in the memory of the late Sally Shymkiw. Through the club’s Fannye Baxter Moore Fund, the check was presented to Beating Heats Director Kathy Ham. more
KNOXVILLE — Claudia Patrick, a 2020 graduate of McKenzie High School, is a color guard member of The Pride of the Southland for a second year. Claire Cottrill, a 2021 graduate of McKenzie High school, is a first year trumpet player for The Pride Of The Southland. Both were in the McKenzie Marching Rebels Band. more
McKENZIE (September 8) — West Tennessee Public Utilities officials sponsored a luncheon for community leaders to thank them for their support of the natural gas utility. The event was held at Bethel University. They also promised to be progressive, community servants to serve the people, businesses, and industries of a five-county service area. more
HUNTINGDON (September 18) — The third annual Dixie Triathlon was held at the Carroll County 1000-Acre Recreation Lake on Saturday, September 18. Hundreds of competitors raced in one of two races: Sprint Distance: 500 meter swim • 16 mile bike • 5k run or the Olympic Distance: 1.5k swim • 40k bike • 10k run more
Garyn Hilburn, 11, Bruceton, the son of Teresa (David) Cawthon and Wayne (Andrea) Hilburn. He was fishing with his dad on July 10, 2021 and caught a long nosed Gar, 18-pound, 54-inch near Fort Pillow, at Cold Creek in Tenn. Garyn will attend Camden Jr High School, and is in sixth grade this fall. more
The volunteer ushers at The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center were honored during the annual luncheon to celebrate their service. Ushers are the first faces patrons see as they enter The Dixie. more
CARROLL COUNTY (August 12) — Kirsten Winkler Sass was surprised with the tremendous outpouring of supporters in McKenzie and Huntingdon as she prepared to depart for Toyko for the paralympics. more
The McKenzie Farmers’ Market continues to have an increasing number of customers and vendors each Saturday and Tuesday. Last Saturday, over 320 customers and 17 vendors were there. Some of our regular vendors were out on vacation and we are looking forward to getting them back. We have fewer numbers on Tuesdays, but our great produce vendors continue to bring in customers on Tuesday afternoons. You want to be sure to check the parking lot out during the week because many times, some of our seasonal vendors will set up through the weekdays. more

PARIS — Rachel Carroll is the new director of Human Resources. Prior to being named at Henry County Medical Center. Carroll served in the Human Resources Department as a generalist for four months. more

McKENZIE — Dr. Brianna Douglas McKinney has joined Phipps Pharmacy as a full-time Pharmacy Doctor. Dr. McKinney will provide care for patients at all Phipps Pharmacy locations and serve as the director of Patient Care Services. In this position, she will use her certification in Medication Therapy Management (MTM) to provide complete medication reviews with our patients, as well as, more exciting health care services. more
