Weakley County Schools certainly has much to celebrate this year, and the latest news is no exception: three district schools – Dresden Elementary School, Gleason School, and Westview High School - have been named Tennessee Reward Schools by the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE). Based on data from the 2023-24 academic year, these schools have earned this recognition through outstanding performance according to the State’s strict scoring matrix. A Reward School ranking means that the school scored in the top 5% for achievement or growth on standardized tests. more

HUNTINGDON (December 3) — Members of the Huntingdon Special School District spent Tuesday morning, December 3, visiting schools and speaking with administrators, teachers, and students to get a first-hand view of the schools. more
McKENZIE (December 7) — Bethel University conferred 255 degrees during its Fall Commencement on Saturday, December 7 in the Crisp Arena. Two faculty members were honored upon their retirement during the ceremony. more

NASHVILLE (November 26) — The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert M. Smith to the Commission. Officially appointed by Governor Bill Lee in early November, Dr. Smith brings a wealth of experience in higher education, public policy, and leadership to his new role. more
McKENZIE (November 26) — As part of their annual community service projects, the McKenzie High School Interact Club, in part with the McKenzie Rotary Club, donated food to United Neighbors in McKenzie. The soup and cracker drive also included other items that include Ramen noodles, protein bars other goods that would provided much needed nourishment within the community. more
Recently, Dr. Lee Carter, Chairman of the Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education was recognized by the Tennessee School Board Association as a Level 5 Master School Board Member. Only 5% of current school board members in Tennessee have received this recognition. more

PARIS — Paris/Henry County officials expressed their excitement for a totally new campus for Tennessee College of Applied Technology -Henry/Carroll to be located at 5215 Highway 218 Bypass, Paris -across from West Wheel and Tire. The Paris campus is a sister campus to McKenzie-based TCAT, located on Highland Drive. more
