McKENZIE (November 28) — Ford’s Blue Oval -SK Battery project in the west Tennessee community of Stanton will be operational in 2025 and employing thousands of workers throughout the region. It is slated to assemble 500,000 electric trucks annually. While the main assembly plant is in Stanton, thousands of jobs will be scattered in communities throughout of west Tennessee. more
CHATTANOOGA (December 1) — On Friday afternoon, the McKenzie Rebels made their fourth appearance in the BlueCross Bowl. After claiming the championship in 2022, the Rebels fell short 14-7 to the South Pittsburg Pirates on Friday after a hard fought game that was scoreless until the third quarter when a Jake Cassidy touchdown put the Rebels on the board. This was the third meeting of the two programs all of which have gone in favor of the Pirates. more

McKENZIE — The aggravated robbery of Jack Martin Jewelry in downtown McKenzie on November 28 left the elderly store owner with injuries and the loss of $10,000 in cash and a necklace that was worn around the shop owner’s neck. more
McKENZIE — McKenzie Industrial Board and the McKenzie Chamber of Commerce, along with participating manufacturers in McKenzie, celebrated Manufacturing Week on October 6-13. more
McKENZIE — A steel walking bridge is now suspended over a small creek adjacent to Power Supply/McKenzie Feed and Grain and is expected to open by Christmas. Martin Paving Company and Crane Services Inc. installed the structure last week. more
McLEMORESVILLE — (November 18) — Lex Suite, 61, a resident of McLemoresville, was injured he was riding his bicycle on State Route 77 at approximately 2:30 p.m. when he was struck by an automobile, driving by Jason Copous of Gibson County. more
HERMITAGE (November 24) — With Friday night’s 25-14 win over the Dresden Lions, the McKenzie Rebels advanced to the TSSAA State Football Championship in Division 1, Class 1A. For the third consecutive year, the Rebels have earned a spot in the BlueCross Bowl and for the third time in four appearances, they will battle it out with the South Pittsburg Pirates. more
Stephen Brown, a lifelong McKenzie native and CSX engineer, had the recent honor of working the CSX Santa Train, which runs through parts of Kentucky, Virgina, and Tennessee along the Appalachian Trail. In its 81st year, the Santa Train carried approximately 13 tons of supplies to those along the 110-mile route, consisting of toys, food, wrapping paper, and stuffed backpacks. The train embarked on its 10-hour journey beginning in Pikeville, Kentucky and ending in Kingsport, Tenn. more
JACKSON (November 6) — The Jackson Clinic and Baptist Memorial Health Care hosted a grand opening for The Jackson Clinic-Baptist Outpatient Campus, a first-of-its-kind, 155,000 square-foot medical campus in Jackson, Tennessee. more

With two weeks remaining in the 2023 football season, the Rebels are on the cusp of making a third consecutive trip to play for the TSSAA State Football Championship. To make it to the final round, McKenzie will have to battle it out in a rematch with the undefeated Dresden Lions. Two other teams have the same goal in mind, South Pittsburg and Oliver Springs. more
