HUNTINGDON (May 30) — The Carroll County Complex is undergoing much needed renovations. Through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funds, the Carroll County Commission pledged $500,000 for maintenance, repair and improvements. more
HUNTINGDON (May 30) — The Carroll County Budget Committee met to discuss upcoming financial issues before the end of the fiscal year. Members were updated on the payoff amount for a loan by the Highway Department. That amount is set at $206,688.82, the Committee already allocated $209,000 in the upcoming fiscal year budget. This amounts to a savings of $25 a day for Carroll County. more
McKENZIE (May 29) — Starting July 1, 2024, RaeKar, a Tennessee-based and family-owned waste services company, will begin trash-collection services for the City of McKenzie. more
PARIS (May 31) — It was another lengthy and stressful night for the Henry County Commission Thursday evening which saw the commission overwhelmingly approve the sale of the Henry County Healthcare Center nursing home, with two commissioners voting no and a third abstaining. more
Gleason was selected to be one of twelve towns in the state to benefit from the Tennessee Downtowns Program, which will benefit downtown Gleason in a variety of ways over the next two years. Angie Lassiter of Gleason Downtown Revitalization, and Mayor Charles Anderson attended the kick-off meeting in Nashville on May 21 for this prestigious program. more
McKENZIE — Musical entertainment returns to downtown McKenzie during the summer with six nightly performances. All performances are free of charge. Spectators are urged to bring a lawn chair. more
McKENZIE — Bethel University announces three of its distinguished alumni, Dr. Mark Bell (MBA ’12), Dr. Lisa Tyler (MBA ’11), and Dr. Tiffany McCutcheon (MBA ’09), were awarded the prestigious Martin S. Bressler Distinguished Researcher Award by the Institute for Global Business Research. more

McKENZIE — Bethel University’s Gaines Pool is slated to close because of the maintenance cost of the indoor swimming pool. more
McKENZIE — Construction will begin later this year on a new administrative and classroom complex at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at McKenzie. Construction is slated to begin in the fall of 2024 and take more than one year to complete. Bell and Associates is the general contractor. more
Frank Ferrante brought his portrayal of Groucho Marx to the stage of the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 18. He delighted the audience with the comedy of the late actor. more

McKENZIE (May 14) — Members of the Rotary Club of McKenzie heard from Bethel University’s Global Studies program. Stacie Freeman, leader of Bethel University Global Studies, was the featured speaker. She thanked the club members for donating supplies for a service/learning trip to Guatemala, where Bethel students and community members, worked in elementary schools in Guatemala City. Travelers also visited Lake Atitlan, Antiqua, and San Juan. more

McKENZIE (May 6) — On Tuesday, Carroll County Mayor Joseph Butler delivered a State of the County Address to the McKenzie Rotary Club. Butler explained that Carroll County is in good financial shape and is in the final stages of preparation for presenting the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget. Butler was elected as Carroll County Mayor in 2018. more
