ATWOOD (July 5) — National Beta members from West Carroll Elementary and West Carroll Junior Senior High school worked over the last few months to prepare for the National Beta Convention. This summer, the two schools amassed sixteen national placements.

MARTIN — Several Carroll County students received degrees from the University of Tennessee at Martin during spring commencement ceremonies May 6 and 7, 2022. UT Martin hosted three in-person commencements to promote safety for graduates and their families while recognizing the class of spring 2022’s accomplishments. Each commencement was live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube for those unable to attend.

The Jackson Symphony presents a free community concert on Huntingdon’s Court Square Thursday evening, July 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. “Symphony on the Move” is an hour-long event sponsored by Huntingdon’s Paula Atkins and Clarksburg Mayor Howell Wayne Todd in cooperation with The Dixie and the Town of Huntingdon.

McKENZIE (July 2) — Our Saturday Farmers Market had a variety of great vendors bringing in over 300 customers. Gardens are coming in, and we had tomatoes, onions, yellow squash, zucchini, onions, cabbage, herbs, and eggs.

HUNTINGDON (June 30) — Carroll County Electric Department Board of Directors held its first meeting under new general manager, Ryan Drewry. It marks the first change in leadership since July 1, 2014, when immediate past manager Danny Brawner was selected to lead the utility.

The Board of Directors of Northwest Tenn. Economic Development Council recently appointed Mrs. Cheryl Oglesby-Townes as the executive director of Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council located in Dresden. Northwest Tenn. Economic Development Council is the local Community Action Agency in Northwest Tennessee serving the counties of Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Obion and Weakley counties.
