    HUNTINGDON (March 30) — Four homes were destroyed and a total of 54 homes or buildings were damaged during an EF-1 tornado on March 30. It was part of a major weather system that included three tornadoes in the West Tennessee area and significant damage in the Southeast United States.

    McKENZIE (April 1) — Trudi’s Place has reopened in downtown McKenzie in a new location. Trudi Bannister held her grand opening on Friday, April 1 inside McKenzie City Florist, 2281 Cedar Avenue. The date marked the fourth anniversary of the florist, owned by Michele Jarrett. She and her late husband, David, opened April 1, 2018, their dream business that includes a coffee shop, florist, ice cream, and gifts.

    When Stacie Freeman saw the destruction the December tornado caused in her hometown of Dresden, one of her first thoughts was to cancel the March trip to Costa Rica she’d planned for students at Dresden High. As the director of Bethel University Global Studies program and a sociology professor who provides dual enrollment classes for Weakley County Schools, she weighed the cost of the travel against the loss of the cultural experience and, initially determined the local needs were too great.

This will be the 32nd year for the field day, promoting no-till farming to areas prone to erosion and soil loss. The event is Thursday, July 28, at the UT AgResearch and Education Center at Milan.

  • Huntingdon Middle School Baseball Unbeaten

    Tuesday, April 5

    The Huntingdon Middle Mustangs opened up their baseball season on Monday, February 28 with a doubleheader at Martin Middle winning both games 11-0 and 4-3. Huntingdon used four pitchers on the mound and scored the 11 runs on eight hits with most of them coming in the fourth inning when they scored nine runs to secure the win. Caleb Ezell earned the win on the mound for the Mustangs.

    Brownies to Die For 1 large pkg chewy Martha White brownie mix,  1 cup nuts 1 package chocolate chips Prepare brownie mix as directed. Add nuts and chocolate chips. Put in greased 9x11 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 22 minutes; don't overbake.
