HUNTINGDON (September 11) — The Carroll County Commission met Monday night with an agenda focused on amendments to the 2023-24 Budget.

McKENZIE (September 12) — Representatives of West Tennessee Public Utility District held its annual luncheon to inform local governmental leaders about its growth, mission, safety standards, and how gas is affordable and clean.

NASHVILLE — State Representative Tandy Darby (R-Greenfield) announced $3.97 million in grant funding to improve local water infrastructure in Greenfield, McKenzie and Puryear. Funding comes from the American Rescue Plan, federal funding and an initiative of the President Biden administration.

McKENZIE (September 14) — During the regular meeting of McKenzie City Council, the petition to de-annex properties 433, 487 and 586 Carroll St., collectively known as Holland Farms, failed to receive a second following a motion to not approve by Councilman Tom Alexander. Without another motion to discuss or approve, the petition can go back before the Council at a later date or can be ignored.

REAGAN (September 15) — On Friday night, McKenzie High School Football Head Coach Wade Comer picked up his 200th win as a head coach. What is even more remarkable is that all the wins come from his tenure at McKenzie High School.

It is time once again to celebrate Huntingdon Heritage Day Festival with the Town of Huntingdon. On Saturday, September 23, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., all are invited to Huntingdon’s historic Court Square to join this free all-day special event honoring the rich history of Carroll County and its county seat, Huntingdon.

HUNTINGDON — As part of the Huntingdon Heritage Festival, Carroll Arts, Inc. is hosting its annual Storytelling at the municipal building to the right of the Dixie Carter Performing Arts and Academic Enrichment Center in Huntingdon on Saturday, September 23.

McKenzie Marching Rebels competed in the South Gibson Marching Invitational held Saturday. A total of 19 bands competed. McKenzie placed first in Band in Class A competition, third place in field commander, and first place in color guard.

E911 Board To Meet September 19 The Carroll County Emergency Communications District Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 5 pm. The meeting is at 200 Norandal Drive, Huntingdon in the training room (this is the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in the training room at the jail).

REAGAN (September 15) — The McKenzie Rebels improved their record Friday night to 4-1 with the non-region road win at Scotts Hill. McKenzie handled Scotts Hill with ease as they picked up the 43-13 victory.

HUNTINGDON (September 15) — Friday night marked the first meeting between the Huntingdon Mustangs (Class 2-A) and the Crockett County Cavaliers (Class 4-A). The Cavaliers arrived at Paul Ward Stadium with an undefeated season record that quickly appeared in danger as the Mustangs took control defensively and limited Crockett County’s scoring efforts to only one touchdown for the night. Offensively, the Mustangs found the end zone five times and Greyson Anderson posted a perfect five for five on extra point attempts. The home field win against the non-region opponent gave Huntingdon a 3-1 record for the season.

GLEASON (September 15) — In-county sports rivals, but kindred spirits with small town values of love and concern came together to support one of Gleason’s citizens, Grady Stafford, who sustained a significant injury over the Labor Day weekend.

HUNTINGDON (September 14) — The McKenzie Middle School Rebels traveled to Paul Ward Stadium Thursday night for a county matchup with the Huntingdon Middle School Mustangs. With a 20-0 shutout of the Rebels, Huntingdon remains undefeated at 5-0 for the season.

Harassment — On August 28, the victim of harassment phoned Carroll County Sheriff’s Department in regards to Joseph Samual Anderson, 37, calling and texting her when she had asked him to stop. Deputy James M. Boaz advised Anderson to quit contacting the victim. On September 7, Deputy Boaz spoke to the victim again where she stated that Mr. Anderson had not stopped texting and trying to call her. She then sent proof to the deputy by showing text messages and phone calls that were time stamped through e-mail. Mr. Anderson was then charged with harassment.

McKENZIE — The seventh-ranked Bethel Wildcats beat a good Bluefield Ram squad 61-14 Saturday in Wildcat Stadium. The Rams arrived in McKenzie receiving votes in the latest Top 25 Poll.

Quentin Selby Trimm, 32, of Huntingdon, was charged with theft of merchandise under $1,000. On August 30, Trimm willingly took several items from Walmart without paying. The value of the items was $50.25.
