    It’s time for Shavonya’s Third Annual Fashion Show with live entertainment, vendors, door prizes, and food trucks. Garments designed by Shavonya Porter with two special guests. The event is on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Carroll County Civic Center, 201 Mustang Drive (Fairgrounds Rd), Huntingdon, TN 38344. Vendors open at noon and the fashion show starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 admission at the door. Kids 5 and under admission is free.     James and Autumn Stephens of McKenzie announce the birth of their daughter, Myla Jane Stephens. The young lady was born September 5, 2023 at 6:59 p.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Union City. She weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Friday, September 8, 2023, was a great day for the annual Dr. Jerry Atkins Habitat for Humanity Golf Scramble. With blue skies and a light breeze the weather was perfect for a golf game. Eleven teams enjoyed a day of golf with all the proceeds going to Habitat. Upon arrival the participants were checked in, given a goodie bag, and received a meal from Chick-fil-A. A little before noon Michelle Sanders welcomed the participants and Mrs. Paula Atkins thanked everyone for coming. Drawings were held for sleeves of golf balls for door prizes. Before the participants left to go to their beginning holes, Brooks Jackson, youth minister at the Huntingdon church of Christ, prayed for the players and the work of Habitat.

    HUNTINGDON (September 20) — A medical clinic will soon be added to the three campuses of Huntingdon Special School District. During the September 20 meeting of the Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education, board members approved Huntingdon-based Evans Medical Clinic as the on-site provider of medical services.

    McKENZIE (September 22) — A McKenzie convenience store, located on U.S. 79 north of the SR 22 bypass, was raided Friday by members of the 24th Judicial District Task Force and the McKenzie Police Department. The owner of A&H Quick Stop was arrested and four gambling devices were seized during the 6 p.m. raid.

    McKENZIE — The No. 6 Bethel Wildcats scored a season-low 48 points Saturday but still won comfortably beating visiting Thomas University 48-14. Bethel entered the game as the nation’s highest-scoring team in the nation at 63.0 points per outing.

    BRUCETON (September 22) — The McKenzie Rebels made the 20-mile cross-county trek to Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School to pick up their fifth win of the season. The Rebels dominated the Tigers 63-0 in the Region 6-1A victory.

  • Emotions Run Strong as the Mustangs Dominate the Bulldogs

    MILAN (September 22) — Friday night marked the return to region play for the Huntingdon Mustangs (3-1) as they traveled to Milan to face the undefeated Bulldogs (5-0). Prior to the match-up, the Bulldogs were ranked number 1 in the state for the Class 2-A poll. Throughout four quarters of play the Mustangs dominated both defensively and offensively to win the game 32-14. Although tension between the local rivals erupted into a scrappy melee three minutes into the second quarter, coaches and officials quickly restored order, and the game continued without further incident. The travel win gave Huntingdon a 4-1 record for the season, 2-0 for region play.

    Lamont Treadway, 40, of Bruceton was arrested on September 17 for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of schedule II methamphetamine. Officer Roberts observed a vehicle going 48 in a 35 MPH zone on Buena Vista Road when he initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver was Lamont D. Treadway, who had told the officer that he had smoked marijuana and had a pipe in the vehicle for smoking marijuana. Officer Roberts then searched the vehicle and did find a pipe with meth inside it.

    DUI Arrest — Tre’von Woods, 23, of Jackson, was arrested for DUI on September 15. Woods drove into a DUI checkpoint around 11 p.m. where deputy Smith was working. His vehicle reportedly smelled like marijuana, in which Woods said he had smoked 30 minutes before. The deputy then asked Woods to pull his vehicle to the side of the road to perform a sobriety test in which he failed and was then arrested.
