Cody Alcorn, of Atlanta, Georgia; April Armstrong, of Bartlett; and Jimmy Tosh, of Henry, will be honored with alumni awards from the University of Tennessee at Martin during homecoming festivities October 1. more
CARROLL COUNTY FAIREST OF FAIR 2022 — Brooklyn Polinski, 18, a graduate of West Carroll High School and a student at Jackson State Community College is the 2022 Fairest of the Fair. She is the daughter of Jessica Estes and Tommy Polinski of Atwood. She has blond hair and green eyes. Her career choice is to become a registered nurse. more
HUNTINGDON (September 24) — Dale R. Kelley was honored as the Outstanding Citizen of the Year and Lucy Vickers was honored as the Pioneer Family recipient during the 29th annual Huntingdon Heritage Festival on Saturday, September 24. more
McKenzie’s golf season ended at the Region 7 Tournament at Dyersburg on Monday, September 26. Three Lady Rebels and two Rebels competed in the tournament. They included Charli Weatherford, Payton Ognibene, and Anna Weatherford along with Nolan Renfro and Caleb Burke. more
ATWOOD — The McKenzie Rebels traveled to Atwood on a rare Thursday night contest due to a TSSAA ruling earlier this year requiring schools to schedule at least one Thursday game to alleviate a shortage of game officials. more
MILAN — The latest edition of the Dog and Pony Show (Huntingdon Mustangs and Milan Bulldogs) saw the ponies outrun the dogs 42-21 in a continuation of one of West Tennessee’s oldest rivalries Friday night, September 23, at Milan. more
The McKenzie Golf Teams wrapped up their regular season with two road matches at Milan Country Club on Tuesday, August 30 and Thursday, September 8 at Stewart County while their last match was at Carroll Lake Golf Course against Huntingdon and South Fulton. The District Tournament got underway on Monday morning, September 19. more
The McKenzie Lady Rebels played their final regular season home match on Tuesday afternoon, September 20, hosting Milan’s Lady Bulldogs. This game was also Senior Day for seven Lady Rebel Seniors. The Lady Rebels scored a pair of goals in the first half taking a 2-0 lead by halftime. more
McKENZIE (September 24) — After a week off with an open date, the No. 13 Bethel Wildcats returned to action Saturday at Wildcat Stadium hosting the UPIKE Bears.  more

Theft of Property — On September 18, Bobby Mann stated he placed his vehicle at the intersection of Highway 219 and Northwood Dr. on September 14 to be displayed for sale. Mr. Mann returned the vehicle back to his residence on September 17. Mr. Mann also stated that on September 18, when he returned home after church, he noticed that the license plate was missing from the vehicle. more
Driving on Suspended License — McKenzie Police Officer Trenton Ruddy conducted a traffic stop at a business on Hwy 79 after observing Christopher Edmonson, 28, of McKenzie driving a red Crown Victoria. more

The recent series of earthquakes in Mexico got me thinking about the New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812. For those unfamiliar with the New Madrid Earthquakes, these were a set of three earthquakes and aftershocks that led to the natural creation of Reelfoot Lake in Lake and Obion counties. more
